Do you know why I started this blog??
One year back my brother lost his brand new Nokia 6300 from his shop. He was very desperate that he gave me a call saying this. I tried all the possible ways. I wrote a letter to Nokia stating this.At that time I was working with Vodafone as customer care officer. I tried all my contacts with different employees of Idea,Airtel etc. I didnt get any good response.
Then I searched on internet for help. Came to know about the hi tech cell. So I wrote an Email to the Hi tech cell quoting all the details and attached a copy of FIS with it. I never expected a response from Police. For my good luck within 6 hours I got a call from Trivandrum Hi tech Cell informing that they have traced the mobile. Asked me to contact Palakkad SP office to where they have send the details on Email.
Phase 2 : Went to Palakkad SP office at 9 AM. Though the Hi tech cell was able to find the cell in 6 hours. People here in our Police station were never interested in checking their mail. They made us wait untill 3:30 in the evening just to take a print outof the mail. We even thought of going back as we saw their attitude. They took print our gave the records in a sealed envelope. We were eager to know who it was. We did something with that envelope(leave it)
Phase 3: Our Local Police station. Gave the resealed envelope to Station in charge. He opened the envelope and said. The place entioned here is too far away. You will have to call an Auto. So we called an send the Police constable in search of the culprit. He came back with a boy of 13 or 14 year old boy. I ws surprised to see the culprit. He was the villain. Inspector thretened him. Asked the details. The boy said he threw away the SIM while travelling in bus and he said he dont remeber where the exact place is. This was a huge a lose for my brother as he lost a lot if his business contacts. But we were happy that we got our mobile back .When checked, we found that the memory card was missing. The boy said he sold that one at the near by duty free shop.
Inspector asked the constable to call the shop keeper to Police. Inspector's intention was not to get the Rs.200 worth memory card back. But he can have a good time with the owner of the shop to remove the owner from cases. The owner came in. On the first sight itself I understood that he was a NRI fool. He was wearing red silk shirt and a heavy bracelet with 3 rings in his fingers.
Inspector called him. Asked to stand with the boy. Insp. took a photo on his N73 and uploaded the same to his laptop. Did some thing on MS paint. He turned the Laptop to them. On the photo, it was written big letters that "Mobile Thieves". Then he said " This is gonna be News for tomorrow on Malayala Manorama". I felt like laughing. I tried my level best to hide my laugh.
After sometime he handed over the phone to us. He asked the duty free owner to pay us Rs.200 for the memory card. He did the same. When we reached the Varandha of the Police station. One Police constable came in and said itching his head just like begging " we have got some custom when we do something for you!!" I asked "what custom, Is there any paper works to be done??"
Ikka smiled and gave him some thing around 200 bugs. He said it is not enough. As he has to share with his colleagues. So he begged for something extra. We left the Station. Ater two days I saw the suty free sho owner. He said he lost 3000 bugs on this case. It was the Police who earned a good amount on this case. Any way I am happy we got our mobile back. But we lost our 750 bugs...
